The table tennis events in the Central American and Caribbean Games came to a successful conclusion on Friday 30th July 2010, with Mexico’s Marcos Madrid standing on the top step of the medal podium, having given an outstanding performance in the Men’s Singles final.

Satisfaction was written over his face, he had every right to feel more than satisfied; he had played arguably the match of his life to beat Lin Ju in the final.

Marcos Madrid was satisfied as were all those involved in the organisation of a splendid competition.

Stunning Mexican Performance Brings Matters to a Climax in Puerto Rico

Mexico’s Marcos Madrid rose to the occasion to bring matters in the table tennis events at the Central American and Caribbean Games to a close, late in the morning of Friday 30th July 2010.

In four straight games, he beat the Dominican Republic’s Lin Ju, to stun the crowd and cause unbridled celebrations from his colleagues and supporters.

They rose as one in adulation, as the 23 year old secured the final point to clinch the coveted title.

It was arguably the best performance in the career of the Mexican.

Marcos Madrid Gains Revenge for Earlier Defeat as Mexico Enjoys Success

Mexico’s 23 year old Marcos Madrid gained revenge for his defeat in the team event earlier in proceedings by overcoming the energetic Alex Echevarria of Colombia to book his place in the Men’s Singles final at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Puerto Rican town of San German on the Friday 30th July 2010.

The victory recorded by the second seeded, Marcos Madrid reflected a highly successful morning for Mexico.

At the penultimate stage of the Women’s Singles event, 24 year old Yadira Silva, the no.3 seed, overcame Venezuela’s second seeded, Fabiola Ramos, to book her place in the final.

Iizzwa Medina Jumps for Joy as Precious Medal is Won for Honduras

It was the best celebration of the whole Central American and Caribbean Games, in fact the best of the year and possibly the Millennium; 28 year old Iizzwa Medina beat Venezuela’s Luisana Perez to book a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Singles and jumped for joy like a five year old on an invisible pogo stick.

The victory over the very calm Luisana Perez on the evening of Thursday 29th July 2010 underlined the importance of the guaranteed bronze medal for Honduras; it was the third in all sports they had captured since the Games begin.

Determined Colombian Demolishes Court to Cause Last Eight Upset

The stylish Jose-Miguel Ramirez of Guatemala was the one casualty of note in the Men’s Singles event at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San German, Puerto Rico on Thursday 29th July 2010.

Seeded no.4, he was beaten in six games by the hard working Colombian Alex Echavarria, a player who a few years ago spent time in England in an effort to hone his skills.

Certainly, the Colombian gave his all and he set a new record.

She sits quietly, sent by her mother to assist in the table tennis events at the Central American and Caribbean Games in the Puerto Rican town of San German.

Quiet not a word is uttered from the mouth of the petite nine year old, as she obediently follows maternal orders.

She sits placidly pressing the buttons that magically produce the players’ names and scores on the state-of-the art ultra modern electronic scoreboard.

However, when the matches are over, there is a total change; Adriana Diaz undergoes a total metamorphosis.

First Stage Defeats Cause Earlier Departures than Seeding Predicted

El Salvador’s Morayle Alvarez and the host nation’s Lyanne Aponte were the major casualties in the Women’s Singles event at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico, as matters in the second stage of proceedings commenced on the morning of Thursday 29th July 2010.

Seeded no. 5, Morayle Alvarez was beaten in the second round by Venezuela’s Fabiola Ramos, the no.2 seed; whilst Lyanne Aponte, seeded no.7, suffered one round later.

She was beaten by Joana Araque, the no.4 seed.
